Luke's first CEO dinner

Having a baby is my dream come true! I absolutely love being a mom with all my heart and there isn't anything in the world that I'd rather be doing. That being said, I do understand that it isn't always the most glamorous job. When your method of checking for a dirty diaper consists of raising the child's rear to your nose and inhaling forcefully, you realize that you have just banished yourself from certain classes in society.

So, Todd and I were surprised when 'the powers that be' at the company that he works for invited us to go to a dinner at a fancy schmancy restaurant in Santa Barbara last week...all of us. I asked Todd "Are you sure they know that Luke is with us? And you're sure that's okay????" Yep.

I know I shouldn't have been embarrassed to bring my sweet little boy, he's so adorable! Even when he is throwing tantrums and spitting out every bite of food that we put into his mouth, I think it's adorable because he's a baby. I only get one or two years of enjoying the blowing of snot bubbles, and the babbling of words that sound an awful lot like "poop"(Luke doing those things, not me=)). But I also know that when you haven't had a baby in a couple years, you forget all those "fun" things that babies do. I was hoping that the CEOs we were dining with would have good memories.

I spent the first few minutes of the night making sure my elbows weren't on the table, that I was using the right set of silverware, and that Luke's mouth was stuffed full of bread at all times, so as not to raise the ambiance of the restaurant from romantic/peaceful to wild and ferocious.

I was so happy when I looked up between bites of fettuccine to see Luke playing peek-a-boo with a couple sitting at another table. I knew that the people at our table would be sweet, they always are. But I was so glad that Luke was not only NOT annoying any of the other diners in the restaurant, but he was making his way around the room smiling at/flirting with/playing with every table in the place.

My sweet Luke is not only my pride and joy in the company of my family, or other moms, but everywhere I go. I have THE best job ever, and everywhere I go with my sweet buddy I am reminded of that!

Shoutout to my new favorite site!!!

I have become obsessed with this website. She shows how to take an old or plain shirt/article of clothing and make it cuter and fancier just by adding some pretty simple additions. I LOVE this site. I have looked through all her tutorials and made a list of ones that I want to do. I think there are about twenty that I want to try. We'll see how that goes.

Here is one of her tutorials that I want to try. You take a plain shirt and add some lace to the top. Then make some removable flower pins to add to the side. Ahhhh......

Look who's talking!

Our little Luke is becoming quite the linguist! He knows about 15 words right now. And by 'knows' I mean he will point to something and say the word without even being asked what it is. It's amazing considering a month ago he had ONE word in his repertoire. Some of them he is really good at saying and even strangers recognize, "hey- he just said 'shoe'!". Some of them can only be deciphered by mom or dad. Like 'Gah' (Dog...obviously, right?) or 'Poo poo' (Shampoo). I can't wait for the day when he is telling his friends that his mom pours poo all over his head every night! Waiting for the CPS visit on that one!

The other day Todd was playing Megaman and Luke pointed to the screen and said 'baby'. We all had a good laugh. It's so funny to see how kids interpret their world! But hey, if the definition of baby is someone who's head is disproportionately big for their body then he is spot on! Smart kid!
