The other day Luke woke up and was just not content being indoors. We decided that we would take him on a walk around our block. When we went outside we were surprised to find that our skin was not boiling from the excruciating heat! It was perfect outside, so we spontaneously decided to take Luke to the zoo.
Yes, there is a zoo in Hesperia, and it is actually REALLY cool!
Of course you have to assume that anything with the word 'Hesperia' in it is going to be a little weird and quirky!
The zoo has all kinds of CRAZY animals and none of them are more than 3 feet away from you. We watched a Bengal Tiger suck down a chicken breast bones and all right in front our face! Along with Bengal Tigers, some of the other residents of the zoo are: Black Bear, Olive Baboon, Ring Tailed Lemurs, Lion, Cougar, Wallabies, Camel, Reindeer, and a whole bunch of other animals that I obviously didn't care about enough.
It was just such a trip to see these animals in the middle of the desert! Luke's favorite was the Llamas! The tiger was devouring flesh right in front of our faces and he was totally oblivious, but when we passed the llamas he kept saying 'mama! mama! mama!' (he thinks mama and Llama are interchangeable)
We've decided this summer we are going to do something fun and semi-adventurous (for us that merely means anything that takes more effort than watching T.V.) once a week. So stay tuned for the Perkins family summer adventures!
